Presidential hopeful, Mike Huckabee, has teamed up with Chuck Norris to produce his first TV ad which airs in selected areas in Iowa today.
This is not your grandpa's political TV ad. It's funnier by far than the Chris Dodd barber shop commercials or the Bill Richardson job interview spoofs. I can't think of any Republican ad that is even comparable.
The purpose of any ad is to generate buzz. Unbelievably, FOX news and other stations are airing the Huckabee ad during their news shows just because of its hilarity. Any ad that gets FREE airtime is worth its weight in gold. How many other presidential ads have you seen played during prime time news for their newsiness? (That's my own new word, I think.

)
Some Huckabee supporters are worried that the commercial does little to address the serious issues of the presidential campaign, and may actually damage Huckabee's credibility as an electable candidate.
Oh, ye of little faith.... There will be plenty of opportunities for both Huck and Chuck to respond with all seriousness to the ad as they become sought after for comments and rebuttals. As people search the web for more on Huckabee upon seeing this spot, they'll find plenty of serious. Personally, I think it's a brilliant strategy!
Even if the ad doesn't appeal to you personally, you have to admit that it's effective. Besides, the ad wasn't meant to reach the Huckabee faithful; preaching to the choir isn't what needs to be done.
Honestly, I believe two groups can be effectively reached with this ad. My dad and my father-in-law, both over 60, will love it. I also think the 18-35 demographic will appreciate the fresh approach. Those in-between may have to wait for the next ad before they fall in love with Huckabee, but at least they'll know his name.
Huckabee is electable!
